The Manhiça Health Research Center (CISM) has been implementing, since December 1, 2020, a study called MozCOVID, which aims to understand the epidemic curve and natural history of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in the district of Manhiça, through a series of epidemiological indicators obtained at the level of health units, in order to provide evidence-based recommendations for the management and mitigation of the COVID-19 epidemic. In this project, seroepidemiological studies were carried out in the community to estimate age-specific seroprevalence through the detection of antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. A COVID-19 morbidity surveillance was also established through passive detection of mild, moderate and severe symptomatic cases of COVID-19 at Hospital Distrital da Manhiça (HDM), and through this estimation of the prevalence of COVID-19 in the district of Manhiça.
