In this area there are relevant themes in the Center's research, such as research in environmental health, which have not yet established themselves as research disciplines with human capacity and infrastructure. For the implementation of specific studies on these themes, the Center will continue to provide support and establish partnerships with already specialized institutions. Therefore, a priori, specific objectives will not be established for this area.

His main area of research is malaria, one of the main health problems affecting mainly children and pregnant women, particularly in Africa and Mozambique in particular. He has been involved in several malaria-related research projects as co-principal investigator and investigator, among others, studies on the prevention and control of malaria, including trials of intermittent preventive treatment in infants (IPTi), and clinical evaluation of the safety, efficacy and immunogenicity of the most advanced malaria vaccine candidate RTS,S/AS0. He will be involved as an investigator in PAMAFRICA projects in Mozambique. Download CV here
