Three Decades of Impact on Child Health
IV Manhiça Foundation Global Health Symposium & I Tuberculosis Initiative Forum
In 2026, the Manhiça Foundation will celebrate three decades of commitment to public health and scientific research, focusing on improving the health of vulnerable populations and, consequently, child survival in Mozambique and other low-income settings. This milestone offers a moment to reflect on the progress made, debate ongoing challenges, and strengthen strategic partnerships around emerging global health priorities.
The event will be chaired by the President of the Manhiça Foundation, Prof. Martinho Dgedge, and will bring together national and international experts, institutional partners, donors, and government representatives. The objective is to reflect collectively on current and future challenges in the field of child health, with a special focus on the strategic role of research institutions, particularly in Africa, in ensuring children’s survival and well-being.
The symposium will also serve as a platform to showcase the main contributions of the CISM and the Manhiça Foundation over the past 30 years, especially in child health, while increasing awareness on tuberculosis prevention—the world’s deadliest infectious disease—and scientific advances in vaccine development, through the launch of the 1st Manhiça Tuberculosis Initiative Forum (MTBI).
